Know what a blind date is? jiffr is the opposite. Pick nine photos from your flickr account to describe yourself. Browse other users photos and choose the ones you wanna date. There's no way to talk before you meet each other. No instant messaging, no chat, no mail. No words at all. Just photos.

The name "jiffr" is made of two things. First, the word jiffy which describes a very short time (as the time it takes the eye to blink or the heart to beat) and second, the "r" at the end, the typical web2.0 suffix so it sounds like flickr. In plain language, with jiffr you can get a great dating experience with photos from flickr in a jiffy!

Every Thursday you'll receive a mail. If two users choose each other, the two can date on Saturday night. This is the only chance to meet your match. Dating time is Saturday 8 pm at either your or your dating partner's favorite location. Can't be there? Missed your chance.

The flickr account name is used to identify your flickr account. jiffr needs it to show your pictures hosted on flickr.com. You can find this name at the top of the flickr page after you have logged in: "Signed up as xxx" where "xxx" stands for your flickr account name.

A zip code (also known as a post code, postcode, or postal code) is a series of digits for your mail. The form of this code depends on which country you live in. jiffr needs this code to connect you with the other jiffr user.

Maybe you already noticed, jiffr isn't about jabbering a lot. But how to get your date without communicating? We made it as simple as possible. You only have to say, where you wanna meet your match. We don't think that "New York" could be a good meeting point. Better you describe it more precisely. Ever heart of Google maps? Why not use it - feel free to paste the URL of the place into the meeting point field.

With jiffr we follow a local approach to enable people to actually meet in real life. At a place they choose and both partners are able to reach. We use postal codes as a way to ensure this necessary proximity. Therefore we have to consider countries as containers, thus making it impossible to get an international match at the moment. But this could be a nice feature for the future.

Don't be irritated flickr is part of yahoo. That's why you need a yahooID first to sign up a flickr account. But don't be afraid the process is quite easy.

• As you may know jiffr just started some month ago.
  Maybe there aren't enough people on jiffr finding your profile.
  Best way to improve this situation - send an invitation email to
  your friends and/or post an own blog article about your experiences with jiffr.


• Maybe you just forgot to jiffr other people. There's only one chance to get a date:
  the person you've jiffred, has to jiffr you, too. You can jiffr the other people only in their profile.


• Could it be that your selected pictures aren't interesting enough?
  Choose pictures which represent you in a better way.

If you wanna receive a match notifiction you have to jiffr someone first.
You've done so but still no mail? Maybe the notification was catched by your spam filter. Check your spam filter settings!

Maybe your flickr account doesn't contain any images since you havn't uploaded one. So upload at least one image and it will show up in your jiffr account settings.
Another reason could be that you don't have authorized jiffr to access your flickr pictures. To give jiffr the authorization make sure that you are logged in, then click here and follow the instructions.
